Our client contacted us following a recommendation and thankfully they called in the early stages of design. After meeting face-to-face for the first time and discussing the possibilities of automation, they had a clearer understanding of how a full automation system would not only modernise their family home with the latest technologies, smart switches, and detectors, but would help them in the future by reducing their carbon footprint and utility bills.
They were so excited to move forward, they had sent the proposed drawings before our security expert Toby Ford, had left the site visit! That evening he looked through the drawings and started designing room by room proposed lighting, detector, and switch layouts. After a few discussions with the client, they had agreed on a design for lighting.
The proposed smart switches have a glass facia, with no-fingerprint technology, they have 4 halo LED buttons, which can be changed to any possible spectrum colour to suit the client’s preference or matching colours in different rooms The switches also have a built-in thermostat which allows monitoring of room-by-room temperatures. Using the smart switch thermostats and presence detectors we can adjust the temperature of the room. For example, if room temperature is set to 21°, but no one has been present for a set period (1 hour), the system will reduce the thermostat calling temperature to 19° which could save £25-35 per year per room. Multiply this by 4-5 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and dining and this all adds up to a massive saving.
Other seamless smart automating we have provided is using the presence detectors to turn on low-level lighting after set hours in corridors, landings, hallways, bathrooms and kitchens. This makes that zombie walk to the bathroom or kitchen for a midnight snack effortless and avoids lighting the whole house like Wembley stadium and disturbing the family from their beauty sleep.
