Are Intruder Alarms & CCTV Cameras Really Worth It?
Simple answer… YES. A school in Kent was being vandalised every couple of weeks over a 3-month period which was impacting the school financially. In particular, the pupils were the worst affected as they could not use the resources in the library due to the damage to the main door. The majority of the books and shelving had been ripped or smashed, swimming was cancelled due to bags of rubble being poured into the pool which had to be emptied before the rubble could be removed, followed by a deep clean and then re-filled. Not a quick and cheap fix.
Toby Ford, our security expert offered IQ’s knowledge of Intruder Alarms and CCTV cameras. He demonstrated day and night images from IQ’s test site, impressing with the High-Definition images in full colour during the day and night.
As a result, the school asked IQ to provide them with an Intruder alarm system and 4 x HD 24/7 Colour cameras to be installed in the vulnerable areas. We carried out the installation the following day, this couldn’t have been better timing. The following evening a group of people were on the prowl; the cameras picked up their every move and caught some stunning facial images for the Police to identify. As soon as they kicked the newly fixed library door open the Alarm started ringing and the school headmaster’s mobile phone alerted him that the library alarm was activated. He arrived on-site only a few minutes later but there was no one to be seen, especially with the sounder still ringing away.
We attended the following morning and exported the video footage of the perpetrators and compiled an evidence pack for the school to pass on to the Police. We are happy to report that 12 months later the school has had no further incidents and is delighted that the system installed by IQ continues to provide a strong deterrent to any potential vandalism.
